Sugar Cookies

Ingredients:
2 cups All Purpose Flour
1 ½ tsp baking powder
6 tbsp. cup unsalted butter
1/3 cup shortening
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350*F. In a large bowl, add flour and baking powder. Set aside. In a standing mixer bowl, add butter, shortening and sugar. Beat until fluffy. Add egg and vanilla extract. Beat until mixed. Add dry ingredients slowly to the mixture and mix together on low. Cover dough with plastic wrap and let chill for about one hour. On a floured surface, roll the dough to ¼” thickness. Cut with a shaped cookie cutter. Place the cookies on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake in the oven for 8- 10 minutes. Remove from the oven when the cookies are beginning to brown on the bottom. Allow the cookies to rest on the pan for about 5-10 minutes. Remove and set on a cooling rack.
Makes 24-36 cookies.
