Broccoli Ham Casserole

Broccoli Ham Casserole has been enjoyed by all in the Welton family for many years. Grandma made this on New Year’s Day every year. Every time I make this for my family, I think of Grandma Welton.

 

Ingredients:
½ cup unsalted butter softened
6 tbsp. All Purpose Flour
3 cups diced ham
1 package frozen broccoli florets
¼ tsp salt
¼ tsp black pepper
¼ tsp oregano
1 ¾ cup milk room temperature
1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
¼ cup plain bread crumbs
Optional: replace sharp cheddar cheese with pepper jack cheese
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375* F. In a deep round casserole dish, mix cooked broccoli and ham. Melt butter in pan careful not to burn the butter. Once melted, blend the flour and seasonings. Add the room temperature milk slowly while whisking. Stir until soft and bubbly on low. Remove from heat and pour over ham and broccoli slowly. Sprinkle top with cheese and then bread crumbs layering. Place in oven and bake for 25-30 minutes or until cheese has melted.
