Southern Biscuits

Ingredients:
2 cups All Purpose Flour
2 sticks unsalted butter, cold
1 tsp salt
1 tsp black pepper
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tbsp. baking powder
1 cup buttermilk
½ stick unsalted butter melted (reserve)
Directions:
Preheat oven to 400*F. In a mixing bowl, add flour, salt, black pepper, garlic powder and baking powder. Mix together well. Then add two cold butter sticks and mix in until well blended. Add Buttermilk and mix until dough forms a ball. Cover bowl with plastic wrap and place in the refrigerator for 30 minutes. Remove and place on a floured board. Roll biscuit dough to ½’ thickness. Cut with a circular cookie cutter into desired shape and size. Place on a cookie sheet or baking pan at least 2 inches apart. Brush the top of each biscuit with melted butter.  Place in the oven and bake 12-14 minutes or until golden brown.

This recipe yields 14-18 biscuits, depending on the size.

Great with Fried Chicken and for Breakfast.
